The girls and I went out today for a special outing while our mother’s helper was here to watch Silas. On our way there, we ran by Dillon’s to pick up the $0.50 Goldfish crackers since today was the last day of the sale. Here’s what we ended up getting:
4 packages of Goldfish crackers — on sale for $1 per bag, used 2 $0.75/2 coupons “doubled” to $1/2 = $0.50 each after coupon
1 Luna bar — $1, used $0.50/1 coupon (doubled) = free after coupon
1 Glade Spring Collections Air Freshener — used free coupon
1 International Delight Creamer — used free coupon
1 bag of peanuts — clearanced to $0.89
My total, after coupons, was $3.16.
I discovered your site back in December and have been doing some couponing and have been enjoying saving money, but at the same time I’ve also changed our diets – and I’m not so sure for the better. We have much more processed food in our house now that I am couponing than we did when I wasn’t. I recently watched the documentary Food Inc. – about where our food comes from. It basically showed me that the Food industry doesn’t care about us or our health! We really do VOTE with our food purchases – any suggestions for more ways to eat greener on a budget or more coupons and deals on organic items?

I wish we had a Dillon’s close by. Sounds like you get really good deals!
My Kroger had 55cent peelie coupons on the flavor blasted Goldfish! They double to $1 so we got a bunch for free!
I see you got the Dark Chocolate creamer. I got that too, and I don’t really like it all that much. Doesn’t taste at all like dark chocolate…but it still sweetens my coffee nicely. Oh well. Hopefully you like it!
I’m really curious to see how it tastes!
I agree with Beth. The amount I needed to add to get any chocolate flavor actually made it too sweet, and adds too many sugar calories in my opinion. My standard coffee just has a splash of half & half so this was a big change.
Here’s my favorite recipe for Spanish Peanuts:
Microwave Peanut Brittle
1 C. sugar
1/2 C. white corn syrup
1 C. roasted salted peanuts or 1 C. raw peanuts + 1/8 t. salt
1 t. butter
1 t. vanilla extract
1 t. baking soda
In 1 ½ quart casserole stir together sugar and syrup. Microwave on high 4 minutes. Stir in peanuts (and salt if using raw peanuts). Microwave on high 5 minutes until light brown. Add butter and vanilla to syrup, blending well. Microwave on high 2 minutes more. Peanuts will be lightly browned and syrup VERY hot. Add baking soda and gently stir until light and foamy. Quickly pour mixture onto greased cookie sheet and spread. Let cool ½ – 1 hour. When cool, break into small pieces and store in airtight container. Makes about 1 pound.
Great for Christmas gifts!
* Microwaving times may vary.
Thanks for sharing this recipe, Maria! I can’t wait to make it!
I’m running to Dillon’s tonight as I haven’t had time to go this week yet. I don’t want to pass up on the free Goldfish either!
I guess I need to sign up for Vocalpoing…free coupons for coffee creamer is right up my ally. The peanuts would be great for ice cream toppings!
Great job, Crystal! I hope we see goldfish crackers down to $1.00 each in our area, too! I’ll keep my fingers crossed! 🙂
That’s so funny I got the same Spanish peanuts on clearance at my Kroger also. I don’t like them though lol.
Those are raw peanuts, they haven’t been cooked yet. They are for use in peanut brittle etc. That could be why you didn’t like how they tasted.
probably lol. They tasted like raw peas. I was thinking about toasting them with a little cinnamon and sugar
