Looking for a yummy and easy slow cooker soup recipe? This Slow Cooker Tortellini Soup Recipe is one you should definitely try!
I cooked dinner for the first time in six weeks on Monday! And it felt SO good to be back in the kitchen after weeks of not being able to stand doing any food prep because of morning, noon, and night sickness.
Since the weather has cooled down here, I though an easy soup recipe would be perfect. Boy oh boy did this one hit the spot!
Every person in our family loved it and the entire slow cooker pot was finished off in less than 15 minutes (see above)! Also, everyone declared this recipe a win! Or, maybe they were just so excited that Mom was finally cooking again so they were extra enthusiastic about it?? 😉
This recipe is so simple to make and it’s a fun twist on traditional chicken noodle soup. Plus, it can be made ahead in the crock pot!
The only thing I would recommend would be buying more flavorful cheese tortellini (we bought the Kroger brand and I thought it was kind of bland) OR adding more salt and pepper to the soup to make it a little more flavorful.
Slow Cooker Tortellini Soup with Chicken
- 1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts (I used three frozen breasts.)
- 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt/pepper
- 18 oz. refrigerated cheese tortellini
Put the chicken, carrots, and celery in a slow cooker. Pour chicken broth over and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and salt and pepper to taste. Cook on low for 6 hours.
Take chicken out and shred/chop. Add chicken back in to slow cooker along with tortellini. Cook until tortellini is tender.

I added extra salt and soup was good but there wasn’t enough liquid, vegetables and too much tortellini. Next time I’ll probably add more vegetables and water. It was very tasty despite these things!

my walmart was out of tortellini and substituted ravioli will that work?
I think it should work if it was cheese ravioli.
Yay!! Thanks for this idea. I ran to Wal-Mart this am, and got the ingredients. It’s in the crockpot now (chicken tortellini soup) and excited for my family to try this for dinner. I love new easy and tasty recipes!! Thanks!!!!!!!!
